FAQ

How many days ahead can you make a cheese ball?

To make-ahead: Make the cheeseball but don’t coat it in nuts. Store it in an airtight container or bag and place it in the refrigerator for up to one week (depending on the freshness of your ingredients). An hour before you are ready to serve it, coat it in nuts and refrigerate until serving.

What crackers are best for cheese balls?

Some of the best crackers to serve with a cheese ball are water crackers, graham crackers, and pita chips. All of these crackers are sturdy and have a neutral flavor that won’t compete with the cheese ball.

What do you serve with a cheese ball?

To serve the cheese ball, set it on a plate with a cheese spreader or knife along with a variety of dipping options. I prefer Ritz crackers, Wheat Thins, and pretzel crisps, but bagel chips, pita chips, and toasted baguettes would also be good choices.

What cheese are cheese balls made of?

Cheese balls are traditionally made with two kinds of cheese – cream cheese (or another soft cheese like quark cheese, mascarpone or ricotta) and a grated semi-soft or semi-firm cheese like cheddar, colby cheese, monterey jack cheese, or muenster.
