FAQ

What is traditional guacamole made of?

Authentic guacamole doesn’t contain fillers and unnecessary ingredients. All you need is avocados, onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeno pepper, lime juice, garlic, and salt. Easy and delicious!

How do Mexican restaurants keep guacamole from turning brown?

Pour a thin but visible layer of water or lemon/lime juice over the guacamole to form a barrier with the air. Cover the dish with plastic wrap, pushing the wrap, so it is flush with the guacamole to prevent air pockets, or put the guacamole in a sealed tub.

What is the difference between Mexican guacamole and American guacamole?

Most Americans are used to guacamole that is thick an chunky and used for dipping, however Mexican guacamole is much thinner and commonly used as a sauce. Add the avocado to a blender, then add the lime juice, cilantro, jalapenos, and garlic. Blend on high until a smooth mixture.

How do you make guacamole taste better?

Add flavor.

If you find that your batch of guacamole needs a boost in flavor consider adding any of the following (add in small bits and taste test as you add!): Extra salt, garlic salt, taco seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, chopped mangos or other tropical fruit or crab meat.
